My Blogging Spot

I was visiting Gail's beautiful blog earlier this week and having a little read of her post on "Our Blog Spots" and thought I would join in to show you all where I am while on line. This is my computer room which was originally our spare room...well...not anymore...now it is mine as my husband and son says! I have not finished this room as yet as I am still waiting on my curtains as I am with my whole home but it will all come soon...

You can see my passion for chandeliers in this room...I have 3 chandelier lamps, 1 basket chandelier from the ceiling and two wall sconces which I just love. My husband freaks out a little when I put all these lights in the spare room which is down the back of the house and not where everyone can see them but I like to be surrounded by pretty things and if I am going to spend a fair bit of time in here why not?

Originally we had built in robes but my hubby removed them so I could add a nice little display in the recessed area but I felt it needed a little something else...When I visited Gail and Tony, Tony showed me some beautiful antique corners he had with cherubs on them which I just fell in love with!!! They were just perfect for that spot I needed to add a little something too mind you I eneded up with two sets, lol...one in the computer room and the other in the lounge. I am still looking for the perfect cabinet to pop my chandelier lamp on.

Now...to my computer...here it is sitting on an old scrolly wrought iron desk with my aswell table runner underneath...I did not want a big desk...just enough to put the computer on but still look pretty. I also have my little rhinestone clock collection hanging above...I love rhinestone clocks and am always looking to add to my collection.

The Power To Schmooze Award

Blogland is a fun, friendly place to be. I won this award from beautiful friend Gail McCormack so a BIG THANKYOU to Gail for this wonderful award! The following explains the award. As Gail says The Power of Schmooze Award is for bloggers who effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello - all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship. What a great description of Blogland.

Now I would like to pass this award onto...

Royal Melbourne Show Fever - UPDATED DAY 1 AND 2

I am soooo tired at the moment...we have spent the last few days at the Royal Melbourne Show...YES...2 DAYS!!! We had the best time so I am going to share some of our memories with you all...

We were lucky enough to get Contractor Passes from my Dad as his company has been doing allot of remodelling the last few years so we thought we would take advantage of it this year...boy we sure did that!

The last few years it has changed so much...they have really opened it up allot so it is less cramped and the set up is fantastic...easy to find your way around!!! I don't get lost anymore, lol.

They still have the large pie that has been in the show grounds for so many years now...not sure how long it has been there but I can remember when I was a child they used to sell four and twenty pies from a stall just underneath.

That big red inflatable 'thing' is where the Nova Radio Station Stand was, they were broadcasting live so my boys had to go and check it out...my hubby will not listen to anything else while at work and Jake always asks me to put Nova on while we are in the car as well...like father like son!

There was a stand called 'Pucker Powded' where you get an empty tube so you can add all your favourite sherbets...any flavor you like!!! You can see Jake's ended up looking like one big rainbow until 15mins later when he ate most of it!

Now this was cool!!! This was called the Imagination Station where they take photos of all the children and crop the head out of the photo. Then they pop it up on the computer screen and your child gets to add a whole heap of fun things to add to their face and surroundings...so cool!!!

You can view Jake's SUPER Artwork and vote for him to win his own Imagination Station by clicking the following link below...I am sure Jake would appreciate all the help he can get with your votes! Jake would also love to hear your comments on this artwork.

This would have to be Jake's favourite ride...the Euroslide! I am sure you all can remember this one as a child!!! So much fun!!! Jake went on this a heap of times over the 2 days we had there.

Another favourite and again a slide but this time a HUGE blow up shark...wouldn't you hate to come across a real shark this size??? No thankyou!

At night Jake turned into a teacup...short and spout! Daddy joined in but I was not aloud to post that photo as it looks funny having a grown man inside a little teacup! lol.

We all went throught this crazy fun house as we do every year...Jake seems to giggle his way throught the whole thing which is a lovely thing to see.

No it's not Disneyland but it is the the Disney Gang. I have not seen this one before...I am so used to seeing the old clown ones.

Now...there way no way we were going to go home without any fairy floss so off Jake went to place his order...

Well...what a smile and a half!!! I dont think he could be any happier but he could have been less sticky once he had his servings lol.

My son saw all these teenagers walking around with the little horns on their head and pitchforks in their hands and wanted to join in the fun...I must say they do suit him! :) So that was Day 1 of our Royal Melbourne Show Fever.

Thurday morning seemed to start off really slow...Jake and I slept in..well, I thought I slept in at 9.30am but Jake really topped that off with waking up at 11am!!! Gee...boy...like he is not growing enough??? Anyway, we had breakfast/lunch together and decided to go back to the show for a second go.

Jake sure looks excited on his way back to the Melbourne Show!!!

My boys are sooo into their cars, motorbikes and anything that has a motor so Jake and I decided to sit down and watch the show at the Arena...i'm sure Jake would have loved to be inside those cars!

The animal nursery always seems to be a big hit with Jake so we spent a good hour in there with all the animals and then Jake had his photo taken with a baby goat...how cute!

Then we went to have a few games as my son is hooked on the Simpsons and was hoping to win one...luckly thing one first prize and got his pick of the stand. I love this photo!

Now which child does not like trampolines??? My little monster was off doing twists and turns all over the place!!! We were thinking of asking Santa for one for Christmas if Jake is a good boy ;)

Then we topped it all of with the fireworks...not the best photo but it was so hard to capture the full affect. We had the very best time and can not wait for next year...we are all showed out at the moment but I am sure we will be ready when it comes around next.

Proud Mamma & Beautiful Gifts

I am so very proud...last week my son Jake received the Principal's Award at school which is a pretty big thing in my eyes! I attended the weekly assembly when he received it and was lucky enough to have my camera handy in my bag...thank goodness for that as I would have hated to miss it! As you can see in the photos Jake was very proud of himself as was his Mamma! :)

I received a beautiful box full of goodies from my friend Kathy - *shabbyrose* today and boy was I so very happy...I received some Ashwell goodies that I hope to list on eBay soon, another vintage rhinestone clock for my collection which was one from Kathy's personal collection...thankyou Kathy...it is just perfect as is your beautiful gifts you added in there too!

Kathy was kind enough to send me a beautiful set of writing cards with the letter 'S' for Siobhan backed onto pretty pink and blue hydrangea paper and a lovely print of a cherub riding a rosy bike completed with sparkling glitter...soooo very cute!!!

Thankyou my beautiful friend for all your kindness towards me...what would I do without you Kathy?

Lucky Me...Flowers, Capodimonte & Rhinestones!

I have been a very lucky girl the last few days...last night my husband finished work early and decided to surprise both Jake and I...Jake received a big remote control helicopter and I received a beautiful arrangement of flowers. It was such a beautiful thing to receive a surprise present not because it was my birthday, valentines day or any other special occasion...hubby's reason was "Just because I love you!" That is the best kind of present! Aren't I lucky?

My husband also planed to take me to an antique auction today as I have been asking him for ages...so off we went early in the morning. Turned out a good day...they had heaps of beautiful treasures but I was told if I don't have a spot at home for them not to put my hand up or else I was in big trouble!!! I even bumped into Alicia from Time Worn Style. It was nice to catch up with her again.

I ended up winning the two things I wanted most which was firstly a beautiful capodimonte candelabra which is just ooh la la!!! As soon as I got it home I scrubbed it with a toothbrush and hung it on my bedroom side wall...love it!

And this beautiful vintage set of rhinestone jewellery consisting of a luxurious necklet, a glamorous bracelet, two sparkling brooches and two sets of delicate earrings. Lucky me...I have been spoilt the last two days haven't I??? Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.

Reflect, Remember & Rebuild 9/11

I will never forget how the world changed when terrorists hijacked planes and drove them into the twin towers on the 11th of September 2001, killing thousands of innocent people. I can remember that night so very clearly...I was up folding clothes and just about ready to go to bed when the first plain hit. I woke my husband because I was so saddened that there had been an accident as at that stage no one knew it was an actual attack. Soon after I went to bed but found it hard to sleep. In the morning I woke to a phone call from a friend telling me to turn the TV on so I did. I sat there in tears watching so many disturbing images being shown to the world. How can people be so cruel and how ever could this happen? This is a mystery and one I will never understand.

This day changed our lives in so many ways. Mothers & fathers, sons & daughters, grandparents & grandchildren, brothers & sisters, aswell as dear old friends were unable to come home to us. For months I was scared to go many places thinking if it could happen in the U.S. it could also happen down in Australia. I thank god for every day I have to spend with my family and friends and cherish it as if it was my last.

Today is truly a time to Reflect, Remember & Rebuild.

Potting Petunias & Tresures

I hope everyone had a nice weekend...I know we did. The weather in Melbourne was lovely...a little windy but still nice. We went out Sunday afternoon to a favourite place I like to treasure hunt at and found another nice pair of vintage plant stands which I had been looking for so they came home with us. Today I decided I would get them out in the garden ready for summer and plant some petunia's into them so they are nice and full when summer arrives. I used pink, lilac and white.

I also found this cute little holder thingy...not sure what to call it but I am sure it will come in handy for something but I am not sure what yet. Any ideas??? The man behind the counter suggested a soap holder but I was thinking something else so I will have to wait and see.

I also bought these beautiful dresden candleholders a little while ago from the U.S. and they finally arrived last week. I just LOVE them!!! I have them sitting on my kitchen window over looking my courtyard.

And here is an updated photo of one of my wall sconces which my hubby will be installing this Saturday in the living/kitchen area. He has 4 of them to put up and is dreading every single one!!! I gave them a good clean added some beautiful vintage shades and had Swarovski Crystals added to them. Full of sparkle now and ready to be installed now.

This is my cheeky little Rocky who snuck in the house last night when we came home from bowling and crawled under the bed hiding from me. He must have missed Jake! :)

Capodimonte & Cherub Chandelier Lamp

I am currently selling this stunning chandelier lamp for a friend of mine who no longer has the space in his home after re-decorating the lounge. It is such a stunning piece and I have never seen anything like it before in my life...I have to admit...I have some nice chandy lamps but nothing like this one!!! It is full of vintage capodimonte roses and rainbow swarovski crystals...WOW!!! You can view more photos of this stunning piece by clicking HERE.

Name Game Tag

I have been tagged by Alison with the Name Game Tag. The rules are as follows - You must state the rules before you state the facts. The facts are to name one thing relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you do not have a middle name then you choose the middle name that you wish you had. Then you tag one person for each letter of your middle name and let them know they have been tagged.

My middle name is Evelyn after my beautiful grandmother Daphney Evelyn so here we go...

E - Easter Bunny. I grew up swearing I saw the Easter Bunny standing over my bed when I was a child. How funny!

V - Vintage Treasures, I love to collect lots of these!

E - e-mail. I love keeping in contact with my friends who are near and far via emails.

L - Labrador. My first ever dog and all time favourite.

Y - Year of the Dragon is my Chinese Zodiac. People born in the Year of the Dragon are healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn. They are also honest, sensitive, brave, and they inspire confidence and trust. Dragon people are the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac. They neither borrow money nor make flowery speeches, but they tend to be soft-hearted which sometimes gives others an advantage over them.

N - Neat. I like to have my house neat and tidy or I get very frustrated!

Now the 6 people I tag for 'The Name Game' is - GAIL MCCORMACK, MY PINK BOUTIQUE, TIME WORN STYLE, PRETTY IN PINK, LITTLE LA LA'S, CHI CHI LA LA DESIGNS.
