Love These Market Finds!

Sunday I went to the market and had a wonderful day full of beautiful treasures so I thought I would post a few pics for you all.

Look at the cherub lamps I found...they are in such good condition. I hope to have these available on eBay in the new year.

I found these beautiful vintage coat hooks that were made from pink prisms and all tied together to make a flower with a metal hook under...so sweet! I might put them on a vintage piece of wood to make a coat rack for my laundry thanks to Gail's wonderful idea! :)

These vintage aprons were soooo pretty and in prisine condition so I bought two to hang in the kitchen. Love the pink lace on this one!

And the blue polka dots...too cute!

Here they are displayed on one of my wall hangings I bought from Gail a while ago.

How is this stunning piece....ooh...I love it! When I saw this piece I knew I had to have it for my outside entertaining area so I brought it home and had Cane put it up the next day. I added some little italian pots and ivy as well, can't wait for the ivy to grow!

Last but Not least here is a photo I took of my son Jake in Carlton this weekend. I just love this photo of him against the green timber fence.

King Commodore

Well this post is a little different but this is my life and my family. My husband is a self confessed 'motor head' really bad and we are only aloud to have Holden cars in this family! I have to say, I do love my commodores so I am lucky there! We have 3 cars at home and all of them are commodores...my car is a new berlina, hubby's everyday run around Calais and then his baby. Yes, his baby as I call it!

This car is untouchable and no one can go near it! It only comes out about 5 times a year and then sits in the garage for the rest of its time...it must be a 'male thing' because I really do not understand it. Cane always wanted a VL Calais so he decided to take on two jobs, one being his electrical apprentice and the other a DJ by night. He saved very hard to get what he wanted and just before he turned 18yo he bought the car of his dreams, a vl calais turbo.

I met my hubby when he was 21yo and he was always doing something to his car...a stereo...new wheels...etc etc. Then he opened up a Electrical Business and bought a company van so the VL was taken off the road for a number of years, stripped inside and out and the motor was sent away to have a heap of work done on it. I wont say how much money he spent on the motor but I will say I could have bought myself a new car with it! Grrr!

Very slowly the VL was put back together using all the original parts as well as getting a new spray of blood red paint...ooh...we loved the colour compared to the orange-red it was before. We took it down to Simon at Nizpro to get all the mechanicals ready and while there they decided to do a feature on it in the Commodore Crazy Magazine. Cane was so proud with his car being featured over 5 pages as you can imagine!

We were on our Honeymoon is Queensland doing some shopping while Cane decided to sneak into a newsagency and have a look at some car magazines when to his surprise he found Commodore Crazy Magazine had entered his VL in an Australian wide competition for the title 'King Commodore' which he ended up winning 4 weeks latter. $10,000 was a nice surprise to both of us.

Since then Cane's car has been in various magazines as well as 2 Show and Shine competitions and won 'Best 4 Door' and 'Best Engine Bay' as well as attends Calder Park where he won 'Best Street Car' Some people see his car as just a 'Western Suburbs Commodore' because it does not have a 'Mercedes badge' which disappoints me as it is so much more after the effort my hubby has put into his 20yo car. Maybe they are just shallow people! I suppose we get more pleasure knowing the history and how it has become the way it is...you don't buy a car out of the shop like this do you? When I look back at the effort my hubby has put into his car I am very proud of him and support him all the way. Good on you Cane!

Now...the next car on the list would have to be the new Camaro as seen in the new Transformers Movie. We saw it at this years Motor Show as you can in the photo...love this car!

Crochet Table Linnen & French Spoons

Last week Jake and I had a little shopping day out at Provincial Home Living where we always seem to find something nice to buy. I had been looking for vintage placemats for a while but they always seem to be spoiled in some way so when I found these I jumped at them even if they were new, they really do look vintage with the 100% cotton and pretty crochet edge. Jake saw the wooden spoons in different sizes and said, 'Look Mum, the big one for you and the little one for me!' Gee, he has good taste choosing spoons from France, lol! Sadly the shopping bag containing these lovely pieces was left in my car boot and I remembered I had left them there today so I gave the spoons a good wash and left them on the drying rack. My hubby came home early today and thought he would surprise us with ravioli bolognaise for dinner, what a lovely man! BUT then he decided he would use my new wooden spoon to make the sauce and stained it of course! GRRR!!! We were very happy that he made dinner but I must say, he got lots of growls from me for staining my new spoon!

A Few Changes To My Blog

Oh it has been a late night tonight...I have been up playing around with my blog settings but I think I have finally got it right now? I have been wanting to put a white background on my page for a while but it was getting a little too confusing for me so lovely Alicia gave me a helping hand...'Thankyou Alicia for guiding me!' It came just in time for me to put my christmas decorations up.

I also visited Jennifer and noticed a widget on her sidebar that displayed recent comments and thought it was a great idea so I have added one myself...thanks Jennifer for the great idea!

Genuine, Sincere & Sweet Award

Hello all. I am proud to say this lovely award was given to me by my beautiful friend GAIL so a very big thankyou to Gail. I suppose this award would have to be one of the most thoughtful awards I have seen out there...Genuine, Sincere & Sweet...those three words mean so much to me and I think you can never go wrong if all you did was follow those three things in life.

Ooh...who to give it too...??? All the blogs I visit seem to be all of the above but this time I am going to pass this award on to Peta from Pretty In Pink.

It's Begining To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

The last week we have been busy getting all the Christmas decorations out of the shed...oh my...I forgot how much we had not to mention the new ones we bought. We stayed up very late last night doing our main christmas tree and when Cane & Jake had enough I kept going till 2am, mind you I still didn't finish!!! We have just finished the tree today and I am so excited! Anyway, I will post some photos soon of all our decorating but I wanted to share what is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our home...

My little feather bird christmas tree. I bought these little birds last year on eBay...I think they are so cute!

Mrs Clause

Santa himself

I love this photo of Jake putting the Angel on top of our tree...how excited he looks! Our children are the ones who bring the magic into our lives at Christmas time...without them it would not be the same.

A Visit to Myer Melbourne for Christmas Decorations

Yesterday we decided to go to Myer so we could add a few more decorations to our Christmas Tree which I am starting to put up after seeing Mel had started putting hers out too. We bought some really pretty antique gold butterflies and I can not wait to get them on the tree!!!

We found it hard trying to get a park so hubby dropped Jake and I off while he went and found a park.

So we headed in the doors and past all the cosmetic counters....I thought this was a real cute display and very shabby n chic inspired.

Ohhh...Myers decorations are sooooo beautiful this year...

How do you choose from so much variety???

Ohhhh!!!

Lovely tree!!!

Lots of animated Christmas Decorations.

I just loved the feather Christmas Trees!

The traditional nutcrackers which Jake wanted to take home.

Myers Christmas Trees are all up and decorated with lovely words like 'Hope' & 'Joy'

Look at the Royal Albert Christmas Collection this year...

Puddings...fruit cake...rosewater shortbread...raspberry shortbread...YUMMY!!!

While we were in the city we decided to go for a little wander and see what we could find...

This is China Town where they would have the best Chinesse food in Melbourne...YUMMY!!!

Another thing I just love is the old ways they used to make churches...so beautiful.

This is St Michaels another beautiful church amongst the streets of Melbourne.

City Museum.

Parliament House.

One of heaps of trams and the Tennis Center in the far background.

How beautiful is this building with all the ivy creaping over it!!! Love it!!!

Another very, very high church.

Melbourne GPO - (the old Melbourne Post Office)

Traffic Lights.

One of Jake's favourite cars...I had to take a photo for him! :)

Streets of Melbourne.

Oh...we were so tired by the end of the day we decided to head down to Krispy Kreams and have a donut. While we were parking the car we saw a horse and carriage which you usually see going around Melbourne's streets. You can hire them out for 30 mins and go for a tour around Melbourne which we do from time to time.

Jake was very excited to see these...

He just could not wait could he???

We all had a donut each with a nice cold drink and headed home.

Hope you all enjoyed my little tour of Melbourne...we have such a pretty city and so much more to see but that will have to wait till our next visit which will be in December to see the Myer Windows which are a tradition in our family. I will make sure I post photos for all the people who do not live in Melbourne to see.

Peonies at the Dinner Table

Friday night we had my mother and father in law come over for dinner so I thought I would take a photo of my kitchen table as I have not posted any yet.

I put my favourite British Rose Table Cloth on...wish I didn't now as my son dropped pasta on it and I am finding it very hard to get the stain out. Oh well...and my favourite plates which have the sweetest roses on them...

My husband came home with the most beautiful bunch of peonies which were so spectacular and the smell...oh wow! I put them in a nice jug which features Gail's beautiful rose painting on top of a baby blue background with white polka dots...I think they go nicely in there.

I can't believe it's November now and Christmas is around the corner...how scary! Christmas would have to be my all time favourite holiday! I seem to remember all my childhood memories and all the excitement in the magic of Christmas. My son wants us to put our Christmas Tree up already as he is so excited!!! It takes a whole day and a bit more to completely decorate it so I like to space it out over a few days...out tree is huge and full of all the hand painted glass ornaments from Myer. I LOVE those decorations!!! I am very traditional come Christmas time so any colours go on our tree...no set theme...red, green, gold, pink, blue, white, every colour you can think of and bows...I LOVE bows!!! I will share some photos once we get it up closer to Christmas as it is a little early but we are all getting excited knowing it is coming soon.
