Decided On Camellias

I have been thinking...thinking...and thinking of what to put in my planters along the back fence of the courtyard, originally I wanted climbers but I couldn't make up my mind which ones. So this morning I thought I would wander down to the nursery and take a look around to see if anything jumped out at me. The staff were just putting out some beautiful camellias and I found my all time favourite 'Desire' which features the most exquisite palest pink formal flowers with deeper pink petal margins. It got me thinking why don't I make a hedge with these camellias instead? Oh, I think that is it! I am so looking forward to planting these beauties on the weekend.

Such a great flower, my fave...not the best flower for a New York garden so I will live through your plantings!

How pretty these will look at your house.

We have one - but just one (a white one, of course!).

The Camelias will make a beautiful hedge - I love to pick and float them in a bowl. Your water fountain looks amazing, can't wait to see the court yard in full bloom

Very beautiful! I wish I had any knack whatsoever for gardening, but honestly I can barely keep houseplants (philo's) alive. Well anyway - thanks for posting, and a very nice pic!

Okay, Siobhan~
Don't forget to let everyone know how I will be housesitting with Zeke - we'll be having cocktails by the fountain, well - maybe iced tea (oh right, it's cold there - french hot chocolat with cinnamon) and fresh croissant. Yum.... Oh yes, I almost forgot - have fun and relax, sweet friend! Oh yes, and beautiful flowers to dream by... wish I could meet you half way there with my family.

Oh, I grew up with camellias. They don't do well where I am now. They are so lovely and really not as appreciated as they should be. What a lovely choice! I think your garden will be happy.

Hugs,
Cookie

Hi Soibhan,

My mum planted a camellia hedge years ago and although it was slow to grow, it is now absolutely gorgeous when it is in full bloom.

Have fun in your winter garden.
