Well, I hope you all had a lovely Mothers Day, I know I sure did! I was spoilt with breaky in bed, lots and lots of squashy hugs and kisses, a vase of roses placed on my bedside table and rose pettles sprinkled all over my car by my sweet little man! What a catch he is going to be when he is older but for now im not sharing lol.
This week has been so very stressful on the whole family let alone Jake himself. He has been getting so much homework lately, projects, infomation reports, tests and the list goes on and on. On top of all this they are all happening at the same time which can be hard. We have been studying before school as well as after school when he gets home and only taking a break for dinner and still finishing up at 8.30pm just in time for bed. Yesterday morning I took him to school and he fell asleap in the car the poor little thing! Is it just me or is this too much to ask from a 8yo? Hes only in grade 3 and personally I dont remember school being so full on this early! I think we have just about done all the work for now...well...that is until he gets home tonight so I am giving him a break and taking him rollerblading this evening. I think he deserves a night off after all the hard work he has been doing. Jake's project was on Snakes and he was so very happy with how it all came together so I thought I would share a few photos that I took of Jake and his project this morning with you all.

He was so excited handing in his project this morning...we even found a few plastic snakes to stick onto this poster which was an added bonus as the children thought it was so cool.

Yes, I am so very proud of my boy, he is growing into a wonderful person with so much to look forward to.
'Well done on all your hard work Jake! Love Mummy xo'

Congratulations Jake! You have done wonderful job. I love the way you filled the entire sheet with pictures and information and those lovely bright borders too. Cherrie
Yikes thats an awful lot of homework for that age, none of my kids had to do that much at the same age. Is this a state school?? Mind you Jakes project is fantastic and you can see all the time and effort he has put into it. Should get AAAAA+++ for that!!
If it were me I would be having a quiet word to the teacher about it as I think kids need time to be kids too and not be exhausted by the end of the day. Great idea to go rollerblading, did you have a go too??

It's just starting, Siobhan. They're gearing up for when he gets to Junior High (what we call it here, 7, 8 grade) and all the work. I think Jake deserves a break and I hope you two have a blast roller blading. Have fun, glad to hear your Mother's Day was so sweet! Ooh, love the snakes project, way to go Jake!

Hey Alicia, Yes, I rollerblade as well. I started learning this year and im having so much fun!
Hi Siobhan
Not sure if my comment went through last night, mainly cause I think I forget to send it after writing it!
The project is fantastic - well done Jake!!
I can remember my kids getting overloaded with work at certain times, not sure if it was as much as Jake seems to be, do the other Mums feel the same? If yes maybe get them together and have a talk with the teacher
Good on you for the roller blading!
Jakes project looks fantastic and very informative. Love the use of rubber snakes.
I once had this homework problem with one of my girls and after discussing it with the teacher, I found out that my daughter had misunderstood the instructions and made the project more involved than was expected. I think an hour a night, several times a week is more than enough homework for this age group.
Jake will be a wonderful catch for some lucky woman one day.

First off, that Snake project is amazing! & yes I agree, our kids are getting way too much homework for their age. It was a huge culture shock when my eldest starting bringing home homework in years 1 & 2. I don't remember doing that sort of thing until we were in years 5 & 6 & even then it wasn't that much of a big deal.
Hope you enjoyed your rollerblading.

I too concur with all that Jakes project is fantastic!! Looks very well done... lots of photos and descriptions of the snakes too... fabulous..!!
He definitely deserves that night out rollerblading... I wish I knew how to do that mself when my kids were growing...
I think your son has way too much work for his age... goodness... school should have a bit of fun thrown in.... all work and no play they say.... perhaps talk with his teacher... maybe she can give an explanation for it all?
Hope you have a fabulous Mothers Day
LOTS OF HUGS

Dylan my youngest is also in year three & I found in the first term he had a lot of homework & projects to do. This term it seems to have slowed right down thank goodness there are now less fights in our house over homework! Jake did a great job on his project & the plastic snakes just finish it off. Good on you for learning to rollerblade, I couldn't do it in a pink fit!
Hope you having a great weekend...
